To follow up Part I of my NYFW adventures, I’ve compiled a brief summary of my remaining days in the big city!
My favorite presentation (hands down) was Jerome 5:31. The young up-and-coming designer’s collection was the epitome of rockerish glam. Tons of sequins, glittery embellishments and loads of fur were on hand. And, he didn’t skimp of the accessories either!
With embellished tunics, statement bib necklaces and bejeweled bodysuits, Jerome consistently spiced things up with his risky combinations. Although many fashion critics admitted to “hating” this presentation, I loved every single bit!
I mean, how can you go wrong with a vintage-inspired tee and faux ombre fur?!
And, skater guys weren’t exempt either. Get into this dude’s ear candy!
Next up, the Jonathan Simkhai show was on deck. When Claire asked me to choose which presentations I wanted to attend I immediately jumped at the opportunity to see this man’s art live. I’ve admired him his designs for quite some time and I figured it’d be an honor to see his talents up close and personal.
For Simkhai, I rocked a fringe blush sweater from ASOS, Old Navy ‘Rockstar’ distressed denim and H&M over-the-knee boots.
Little did Jame and I know, our tickets were for standing room only!
And, the venue was already packed to capacity. There was even chatter that Anna Wintour was sitting front row, ugh!
But, being the resourceful women that are, we took this opportunity to sift the lobby for any familiar faces. And, boy, were we in luck!
We spotted supermodels Grace Bol and Herieth Paul. (Um, how gorg are they?!)
Singer/it-girl Justine Skye was in the building…
And, I landed a touchdown when I stole a quick shot with celebrity stylist/creative director Shiona Turini (right) and Racked.com’s Editor-at-Large Rajni Jacques (left)! #BlackGirlMafia on deck!
It was the perfect ending to any Fashion Week!
