Belize in You founder Raquel Battle struck gold when she created the Marine Skin and Body Care line infused with wonder-working seaweed and a multitude of other lush ingredients. After being extended the opportunity to exclusively check out the dynamic brand, I absolutely could not resist.
According to the brand’s official statement, “Belize in You (BIY) continues to support cancer patients in Belize and the building of the first hospice home in the country-The Edlin Leslie Sr. Hospice. For each soap and skincare product that you purchase, BIY donates $1 to the Edlin Leslie Sr. Hospice building project in Belize.
Belize in You specializes in producing, high quality seaweed soaps made from gracilaria seaweed. This additive and soap base is sourced at the Placencia Producers Cooperative in Belize. Today the coop strives to remain relevant amidst a rapidly developing tourism industry. Using Seaweed as a base serves as an added value to the expansion of the seaweed and expansion of farms in Belize. The use of seaweed has a direct impact on the expansion of the conservation areas in the caribbean waters of Southern Belize. When you purchase a seaweed soap you help patients at the end of life and farmers to expand seaweed farms in Belize.”
As a young Black woman who suffers with oily skin, slight hyperpigmentation and an acne-prone texture, I always find that I’m a bit cautious when it comes to selecting facial cleansers, toners and night creams. There’s always this little voice in the back of my mind that urges me to “be careful” and use certain beauty picks “sparingly”; however, after discovering Belize in You‘s transformative results, I’m happy to say that I will continue to use their life-changing products.
Keep reading to see which products I sampled and how they worked miracles for my bipolar skin!
1) Belize in You’s Deluxe Seaweed Soap, $10
The Belize in You Deluxe Seaweed Soap is every woman’s must-have with nourishing ingredients including shea butter, coconut oil, a proprietary blend of essential oils and anatto seeds; in addition, “seaweeds are [also] hand picked from the pristine waters of the Caribbean and are high in a variety of vitamins and minerals”. The benefits of using seaweed soap are limitless and range from injecting skin with generous amounts of vitamins B6, A1 and B12 and even toning one’s overall complexion.
My personal experience with Belize in You’s Deluxe Seaweed Soap was quite positive. I used the uber-moisturizing bar for a total of almost two weeks and the results were impressive. Unlike many popular soap brands, this shower/bath bar didn’t leave any residue or unwanted films after I finished bathing. Instead, my skin was left feeling immaculately supple, refreshed and clean. I used the soap primarily at night (to ensure that my skin could get experience the full effect) and, come morning time, my entire complexion screamed complete radiance. Cleansing with Belize in You’s Deluxe Seaweed Soap is comparable to bathing in gold, there’s just no greater feeling! Purchase your own bar now!
2) Belize in You’s Seaweed Facial Cleanser, $45
Without a doubt, the Seaweed Facial Cleanser was my favorite product from Belize in You! As aforementioned, I suffer with finicky skin that can’t decide whether it wants to smooth itself out or puff up like a small planet. But, as I started to use rose seed oil infused masterpiece, I couldn’t find myself using any other product on my face. Belize in You reminds their customers that this particular product “provides thorough and deep cleansing, delivers collagen boosting vitamin A to the skin and helps with the healthy regeneration of skin cells”. Pretty versatile, no?
Typically, I wash my face twice a day (once in the morning and once before bed); therefore, the use of the Seaweed Facial Cleanser was limited to the most important times of my daily beauty regime. I’d pump out about two quick squirts of the pastel-hued liquid, lather it up and smear it all over my thirsty pores. The beautiful aspect about this product is its gentleness. There’s also no overwhelming scent nor does it sting or overly cleanse in any way. After about three consecutive uses, I noticed my skin was less oily throughout the day and, as a result, blackheads and developing pimples were but to rest. Over the course of a week and a half, my face was rid of oversized pores, dark spots on my cheeks started to blend with the rest of my complexion and my skin also appeared brighter and less dull. The Seaweed Facial Cleanser is also ideal for removing stubborn makeup and other cosmetic products. All in all, this product is a revelation and I fully intend to continue using it in the future! 3) Belize in You’s Sea Therapy PM Cream, $70
Age-defying products are slowly creeping into my nightly skin care routine. Although I’m only in my late 20’s, I find that dermatologists recommend the use of these melanin-saving selections that assist in keeping skin tight and firm. So, after scoping out Belize in You’s Sea Therapy PM Cream, I figured I’d give the water-based face lotion a quick try. Due to my slight OCD and past experiences with night creams, I used this cream in conjunction with my usual Aveeno Active Naturals Absolutely Ageless Night Cream.
Immediately, I fell in love with the non-oily texture of the cream and I also enjoyed its lack of smell. For some reason, when night creams are overly scented, it makes it difficult for me to continue its use. I used the Sea Therapy PM Cream for about a week and it’s a great beauty find! After cleansing my face with the Seaweed Facial Cleanser, I’d rotate night creams and, in the morning, I woke up to dewy, flawless skin. Dark undereye circles were erased, fine lines started to fade and the general texture of my skin was as soft as a baby’s bottom. It was amazing! Anxious to learn more about this rejuvenating nightly cream, head on over to Belize in You‘s shop right now!
