With jaw-dropping headliners including Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Bon Iver, Lorde and more, Coachella 2017 is already set to go down as an iconic occasion! But, aside from the diverse blend of international attendees and sheer scenic perfection, Coachella is the ultimate festival experience.

So, in celebration of the kickoff weekend, I’ve partnered with KIND Snacks to bring you a play-by-play of our Coachella 2017 survival guide!Believe it or not: we’ve got you covered in every way possible – from beauty and health to maintaining a little extra juice on your cell, keep reading to see which of our must-haves made the list!

KIND Nuts and Spice Bars are also ideal for providing that extra ounce of fuel to keep you going throughout the long days while helping you stay within budget amongst pricey festival food vendors. KIND Nuts and Spice Bars also come in a wide variety of flavors but my faves are the Caramel Almond & Sea Salt, the Maple Glazed Pecan and Sea Salt, the Dark Chocolate Almond and Coconut, the Dark Chocolate Almond Mint and the Pressed by KIND Strawberry, Apple and Chia flavors!

2) A Refillable Water Bottle

Dehydration is never a good thing. So, plan ahead and pack a nifty refillable water bottle to accompany you on your Coachella experience! With the rising popularity of bottles such as the Yeti, moisture experts everywhere are praising the myriad of ways to adequately hydrate your body. While more than 60% of the human body is composed of water, staying hydrated is a tried and true beauty secret that women celebrate daily.

A lack of hydration can include side effects such as loss of energy, reduced cognitive function, headaches and fatigue. If boring ‘ol filtered water is a no go, opt for the detoxification route while incorporating cucumbers, lemons, limes, blueberries, fresh mint leaves, raspberries, honey and even cinnamon! The importance of maintaining a supple complexion is transformed into a less daunting task with a few sips and a slice of innovation. Happy hydrating!

3) Sunscreen

As a heavily melaninated twenty-something, I am a living witness to the power of sunscreen. Serving as our personal bodyguard from the harshness of the sun’s ultraviolent rays, sunscreen is the perfect arsenal against the, sometimes, harsh Coachella weather conditions. Typically, temperatures in Indio, California range from the high-80’s to about mid-90’s; however, despite the undeniable snap of spring, precautionary skin care is vital to dodging potential sunburn.

Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 is one of my skin care mainstays! I slather on a bean-sized amount once in the morning after washing and exfoliating my face. This gentle yet effective formula contains total soy complex and natural light diffusers that safely even out skin tone while bringing out your skin’s natural radiance. Interested in seeing more about this outstanding product? Well, read more about Aveeno via their official site here!

4) Lip Balm and Waterproof Mascara

With Coachella stepping into high gear, lip moisturization is key in nailing that close-up Instagram selfie with the BFF. Crusty, unflattering lips can be quite the downer and they can also cause a bit of uneasiness, irritability and feelings of self-consciousness. Combat future dryness with drugstore finds including Aquaphor’s Lip Repair ($4), Chapstick ($3), EOS Lip Balm ($5) and Smith’s Rosebud Salve ($6). Each one of these products run under $10 and they are the best bet for preserving your sexy as your show hop throughout Coachella. I mean, who doesn’t love a good lip balm?

In addition to flawless lips, waterproof mascara is every woman’s savior when there is a need to plump up those eyelashes. With such unpredictable weather conditions (hey, scattered showers!), products that can withstand the elements are an absolute necessity. Try Maybelline’s Great Lash Waterproof Mascara ($6) for gravity-altering volume, anti-smudging and an impeccable lengthening effect.

5) Portable Phone Charger

Imagine this: You’re walking through a sea of festival goers as you navigate the path to the highly-anticipated Radiohead concert. You’re sifting through the bundle of anxiously awaiting concert attendees before you spot Solange Knowles! The Houston-bred style icon looks ravishing in a rustic Stella McCartney ensemble and her ‘fro is laid to the natural hair gods. Of course, you mosey on over while reaching for your trusty I-Phone, trying not to appear too overzealous – you decide to snap a quick candid… but, alas, your phone is dead. Yep, zip zero. Bummer, right?

Dead phone batteries at inopportune moments can certainly kill anyone’s vibe. As your hopes of capturing a moment with one of Tinseltown’s finest transcends into pure regret and irritation, it’s safe to say that a portable phone charger is a no-brainer for all your star struck Coachella shenanigans.

Nip all thoughts of enduring the dreaded low-battery notification with a portable phone charger that reflects your personality while, literally, injecting the needed juice into your life line to the world. This budget-friendly pick from H&M cost me under $20 and the uber-cute cat design makes it even more adorable! Additional chargers can also be purchased at other retailers including Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Ebay and Target.

6) Multiple Layers of Clothes

So, basically, the Coachella Music and Arts Festival is situated in the heart of a real-life valley. With steamy days and billowy evenings on the menu, it is best to arrive to the festival ready for all the elements Mother Nature throws your way.

To not sacrifice the notion of flaunting a little skin, stick to the basics. Distressed denim is a popular choice among attendees and the occasional chambray/jacket (tied around the waist) translates into a trendy yet strategic method to keep your warm closet picks close by. Wide-brim hats and over-the-knee boots are also your best essentials when it comes to accessories.

Bandeau tops, sheer dresses and loads of fringe are also ideal festival wear but, when layered over unexpected accents, sultry ‘fits can soon be upgraded to one-of-a-kind #OOTDs! Coachella is an awesome time to let your creative flag fly so don’t fall victim to the pressures of dressing like everyone else: the primary objective is to be comfortable while looking fabulous – all while having the time of your life!

To all my readers traveling to Coachella, be safe out there! This monumental festival is a life-changing experience and I hope this survival guide gives you a quick glimpse into what you can expect while getting you prepared along the way.

And, to Lindsay Langston and the KIND Snacks family, thank you so much for granting me the chance to spread the word about your delicious and healthy products. You rock!
