#Runway to #RealWay: Johanna Ortiz’s Resort 2018 Collection

I first discovered Johanna Ortiz after a long Pinterest binge, one lazy Saturday afternoon. I searched aimlessly for outfit inspiration that didn’t scream “trendy” nor “fast fashion”; however, every single image that flew across my phone served as a constant reminder of how uninspiring fashion can be at times.

But, thanks to Johanna’s love for striking volume, elegant silhouettes and her signature prints, I was immediately smitten with over-the-top slayage. Sooner than later, I found myself combing my own wardrobe for pieces that resembled Ortiz’s masterpieces. It’s safe to say that she is currently my personal stylist (in my mind, of course) while her inimitable looks continue to dance throughout my fashionable dreams.

So, why not dish out another #Runway to #RealWay post, right? Keep reading to discover which Resort 2018 frocks tickled my fancy!

1) Drape a satin robe over a breezy two-piece set.

Two-piece sets are always easy to wear during the warmer months. Not only do they require a minimal thought process but they’re also pretty easy to accessorize! Take a page from the model’s book and throw on a wispy robe or let your footwear do the talking with bow-accent mules.

2) Denim + An oversized obi belt = Sartorial goodness!

Obi wrap belts originate from the Japanese culture’s legendary martial arts eruption. The belts were typically worn with the keikogi (a traditional Japanese dress) and kimonos. While Johanna Ortiz crosses national barriers with this accessory, the addition of structured American denim and a sultry white eyelet pencil skirt earns this look a perfect 10.

3) Rock playful ruffled number with an asymmetric hem.

Need to inject some color into your next vacation picks? Why not go with deep red florals and gold gladiator sandals! You’re sure to turn heads everywhere you go.

4) Mix stripes and an eclectic palm print for added personality.

If you’ve previously followed my blog, you’re aware that my love for off-the-wall prints is pretty serious! One of the best ways to mix contrasting palettes is ensure that both complement each other. In this case, Ortiz boasted Cuban vibes while pairing a bell-sleeved topper with a palm-print asymmetric ruffled skirt and a tan obi belt. Chic, no?

5) Implement a more modern take on the classic white blouse!

Think outside the box when it comes to wearing “classic” wardrobe staples! Amp up a basic blouse and distressed denim by going for longer hems and statement finishing touches.

6) Pair summer stripes with a gilded vest.

A gold-encrusted vest is the ultimate way to incorporate a touch of luxury to a simple striped midi dress. Also, remember, heels are never mandatory, be open with your shoe choices and try a dainty flat. Never sacrifice style for comfort. Slay on any off day!
