Marissa Webb is one of those designers that inspires you to whip out your favorite pair of leather pants (in the dead of summer) and slay to the fashion gawds!
When I first stumbled across her versatile menswear-inspired collections, I didn’t realize how truly effective polished staples could translate into fashion-forward outfits. I found myself captivated by Webb’s use of rambunctious silhouettes and her ability to transform even the simplest of pieces into completely wearable sartorial gold. Equally intrigued by Webb’s personal style, I also gawked and stalked her Instagram while searching for additional ounces of tips for re-purposing some of my own run-of-the-mill-basics.
With New York Fashion Week on September’s horizon, I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite looks from this Korean-born visionary, who has a knack for giving a nod to incorporating sultry detailing into everyday ensembles.
Let’s get to it!
1) Combine style aesthetics with florals and leather!
The flirty appeal of brightly-hued florals and the edgy ambience of lace-up leather makes for a concoction of instant outfit envy. You can add a pair of basic flats or slip into a pair of strappy, high heel stunners!
2) Radiate silver fox vibes in a metallic two-piece set.
Yes, Anderson Cooper may be one of the world’s hottest silver foxes; however, you can give the CNN journalist a run for his money with this eye-catching set! I absolutely adore the tailored fit of the capri trousers (and let’s not forget about that gorgeous waistline). So gorg!
3) Seersucker and more leather? Um, yes!
Every time I run across seersucker pieces, I immediately think of summer: easy breezy dressing, light fabrics and an effortless classic appeal. Throw in a little unexpected twist by adding ruffled brown leather! Cute, no?
4) Add some lace to your favorite statement pants!
Of course, earlier we saw the full effect of this silver two-piece set but why not bring it down to Earth? A simple red lace top and matching red belt embrace your feminine side while also injecting a rock-n-roll feel.
5) Rock olive green up top and down below.
Olive green is one of those colors that literally go with everything! So, at first glance, this ruffled, off-the-shoulder masterpiece pushes the bounds of everyday style; yet, it also serves up major inspiration by proving that monochromatic ‘fits are still all the rage. Floral bandeaus are optional.
