Craving Color

I’m still in the mood for all things black. Blackity black. Bliggity black. Black on black on black. But, I’m craving color. Craving color in a black and white world, with all hues being celebrated for their beauty, their vibrancy and their uniqueness. And, I’m not talking race r/t ethnicity. Please, let’s exit out of activist mode for two seconds…

I’m talking about ROY G BIV vibes! Rainbow shit. Unicorn slayage. Skittles 101. Greens, blues, reds, pinks, oranges, purples… that part.

I’m not too sure if you guys noticed, but I did take a break from blogging on last week. I just wasn’t up for writing a damn thing. I did vent a bit here in one of my previous posts, but it eventually became too overwhelming and I had to briefly step away from the creative process. As an empath, my goal is to always maintain my own inner peace and tranquility; as the aura of others can have a tremendous and lasting impact on my psyche. With everything that’s been going on with the George Floyd movement, the consistent, yet stagnant battle with police brutality and the sis COVID-19, it just feels like our world has been stuck in what feels like an ongoing, play-by-play of Do The Right Thing (minus the iconic one-liners of Radio Raheem).

Personally, one of my escapes have been cemented in refining my style to include more color. No joke. Color has been my savior. Colors just have this intrinsic power to instantly uplift your mood. I mean, throw on an eye-catching color combination (pink & orange, green & yellow, blue & green, etc.), add a statement shoe and you are set! Spice up a basic look, without any effort. Even as Fall starts to creep in, my color theory still applies: stand out by any means necessary. Not only can colors add a little pep into your step, but they can also have a positive impact on people who you come in contact with. Even as Fall starts to creep in, my color theory still applies: stand out by any means necessary.

Color is undefeated. Yes, neutrals have been deemed trendy and “sophisticated”, but when I dress, I’m looking to be more than another fashionista, up on the fashion curve. I want to wear things that I truly love. I want to create actual looks, not just outfits.

Grab your own approach to fashion by the reins and make it your M.O. to establish a deeper connection with your thoughts and your feelings, while translating it into the way you present yourself. Lately, I’ve been lowkey sick of everything… my job, the world, the way the world works, people, the way people operate… it’s been a lot. But, thanks to this color love affair, I’m inspired. I’m more upbeat. And, I’m ready for whatever.

Have fun. Mix unique prints. Wear wacky accessories. Combine to pieces that are total opposites. Play with fashion. Embrace the quirks. Be a stunner, in your own right. You hold the key to unlocking you happiness. Don’t let the world tell you otherwise.
