I’ve struggled with acne my entire life. When I was a teenager, my face looked like a literal planet. I tried it all – the benzoyl peroxide, the salicylic acid and even apple cider vinegar treatments. Not only did a large amount of the acne “treatments” further irritate my skin, but they also gave birth to a slew of new cystic pimples, whiteheads and blackheads.
In college, I discovered the glorious combination of African black soap and zinc oxide. I happened across the second ingredient via the tried-and-true Queen Helen Mint Julep Masque which was highly affordable (only about $5 at the local beauty supply). Both skin saviors seemed to work wonders for my troubled face. For about a year and a half, I managed to upkeep, almost, impeccable skin.
Then, I graduated. Life happened. And, the cycle continued…

Fast forward to late 2019 (as seen above in both pictures) and my textured skin started to evolve. I was convinced that my breakouts were the product of stress, a poor diet, genetically oily skin and not drinking enough water. I sifted through YouTube to find natural remedies, but nothing worked.
In spring 2021, I was on a random trip to Ulta and spotted Love Wellness’ Clear Skin Probiotics. The shiny periwinkle blue packaging caught my attention. I picked up the bottle to further inspect the contents and was immediately enthralled by the three primary ingredients: zinc, chaste tree fruit extract and bifidobacterium longum.
Not going to lie: I also did a quick Google search to skim through the reviews – there was not one disappointment in sight. Available for $24, I figured it would be worth a gamble.

According to website, Love Wellness states, “1 capsule per day helps balance the skin’s microbiome to reduce the number of acne pimples, improve skin pores, redness, and dryness; Contains Bifidobacterium longum BB536® a clinically tested strain of bacteria that supports clear skin.” (Love Wellness, 2021)
I coupled this internal remedy with staying consistent with a set skincare routine, drinking tons of water and avoiding any type of skin picking. I started taking the probiotics in late August/early September 2021. As today, my skin has done endured a total transformation. See for yourself below.

For anyone struggling to improve their skin texture and beat the constant battle with acne, I highly recommend Love Wellness’ Clear Skin Probiotics. Although the probiotics don’t cease acne completely, my pimples are nowhere near as bad and are never bigger than a tiny dot. I blame hormones for that. Thanks, Mother Nature!
In the meantime, let me know what you think! Do you have any beauty remedies that you would like to share? Do you struggle with acne also – I’d love to hear how you keep zits at bay. Share the wealth!
