Life Lately: A Conversation with Kamala Harris Book Tour at The Hobby Center

Recently, I had the honor to attend A Conversation with Kamala Harris – the official book tour for Big Sister General’s highly anticipated publication, 107 Days.

A slew of emotions overcame me, even as I purchased the tickets. Excitement, a tinge of fear, a glimmer of hope and then the dreaded bite of the abrasive reality regarding our nation’s current state.

But, the anxious thoughts didn’t deter me.

I’ve never had the chance to experience Kamala Harris live. My admiration and respect of her political prowess always stopped at a screen – a television, a phone and perhaps a laptop. So, I knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Moderated by Carlos Espina, A Conversation with Kamala Harris hit all the sweet spots. From her monumental entrance onto the stage to her witty yet captivating dialogue, it was evident that Kamala Harris continues to holster that unwavering strength and a plethora of wisdom.

As I looked out over the sea of attendees, the diverse crowd spanned generations. Local politicians and lawyers, Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority members and community leaders were just a few spotted on the scene.

The ambience was optimistic, free of any signs of political turmoil – a welcome change from the wave of ghastly current events.

I expressed to my sister how much I enjoyed this event; I found myself simply touched by how influential Kamala Harris’ journey has been for those who strive to follow in her footsteps. Being able to witness such historic times is such a blessing!

I look forward to see what else she has in store.

All I know is that this is not the end.

Always Love,

E
